# Cribbage — The FAQ
Six cards, a rogue crib, a peg board that never forgets, and a scoring chant — "fifteen two, fifteen four..." — that will live in your head rent-free forever. Welcome to Cribbage.

## The Basics
**What even is this game?**
The classic two-player card game: deal, ditch two cards into a crib nobody but the dealer controls, peg points playing cards back and forth, then count up everyone's hand for the real damage. First to 121 wins.
**How do I win?**
Hit 121 points before your opponent does — pegging points and counting points both count, and the moment you cross the line, the game's over. A popup barges in to declare **"You WIN!"**, **"You Loose!"** (yes, that's the actual typo, and honestly it stings more that way), or **DRAW** — then offers you **Continue** for an instant rematch or **Main Menu** to go lick your wounds elsewhere.
**How many cards do I get?**
Six, dealt from a standard 52-card deck. You'll only keep four of them — the other two go somewhere you'd rather they didn't.
**Is there an undo?**
Half of one. Sent a card to the crib and regretted it? Right-click it back — but only if it's the very first card you sent. The second one's final, no take-backs.
**Is there an in-game rulebook?**
Sort of — the Main Menu has a **How to Play** button that pulls up a one-screen cheat sheet on scoring and the 121-point objective. It won't roast you the way this FAQ does, but it's faster to read.

## The Weird Stuff
**Who deals, and who gets the crib?**
Nobody alternates politely here — every round opens with a cut of the deck, and whoever draws the lower card deals (and owns the crib) that round. Tied cards are settled by suit rank rather than a re-cut, so hearts-vs-clubs can matter more than you'd expect.
**What's the deal with the crib?**
Both players discard 2 of their 6 cards face-down into a shared pile — the crib — which only the dealer gets to count at the end. Everyone contributes; only one of you cashes in.
**How does pegging work?**
Cards go down one at a time, alternating players, with a running count climbing toward 31. Land exactly on 15 or 31? 2 points. Pair up ranks back-to-back? 2 points (6 for three in a row, 12 for four). String together a run of 3 or more, in any order? 1 point per card. Stuck with nothing playable? You call "Go," and your opponent pockets a point for the privilege.
**How's the hand counted?**
After pegging, hands get tallied for real: 2 points per combination of cards that adds to 15, 2 points per pair, 1 point per card in a run, and a flush bonus if your hand shares a suit. Holding the jack matching the starter card's suit ("his nobs") tacks on one more.
**How hard is the AI?**
Normal AI plays whatever legal card comes up first during pegging — no strategy involved. Master AI actually scans its hand each turn for the highest-scoring legal play. Neither difficulty, though, is any smarter about *what to discard* into the crib — that part's random either way.
---
## Do You Have Other Rules?
Barely any knobs to turn. The win target is locked at 121 — the real, classic cribbage number, not a house-rule shortcut. The only thing you can actually pick from the Main Menu is **Game Level** — Normal or Master.
---
## Playing Against Others
**How many players?**
Two: you against one AI opponent. No pass-and-play, no online multiplayer.
---
## Practical Nonsense
**Is my progress saved?**
Your running score carries over between sessions — **New Game** resets it to zero, **Resume Game** picks up where you left off. The Main Menu also keeps a lifetime scoreboard tucked at the bottom — Played, Won, Win % — with a **Clear** button for whenever those numbers get too honest.
**What platform is this on?**
Windows desktop, built in Godot.
**I found a bug. Now what?**
Report it. Cribbage has enough weird terminology already ("his nobs," "muggins," "the crib") — nobody needs bugs adding to the confusion.
